

CLARENCE F. WHALE, JR., born in Cleveland, OH of August 11, 1925 passed away peacefully on January 24, 2011. Remaining is his wife, Charlotte Jafvert Whale, to whom he was married for 62 years. Also, four children, Casandra (Candy) Jackson, William (Rick), Douglas, and Michael Whale. Two baby daughters, Nancy Jeanne and Cheryl Ann, preceded him in death. He was also blessed with six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Clarence was the elder son of Clarence F. Whale, Sr. and Margaret Schuman Whale. He had one brother, Kenyon Whale, deceased. Clarence graduated from Garfield Heights High School and went immediately into the US Navy during World War II and served on the USS LSM 171 landing craft. He was on the way to the invasion of Japan when the two atom bombs ended the war. After his service in the Navy, he attended Fenn College, which later became Cleveland State University, while he was employed at Cleveland Steel Products. After completing school, he was hired at Rotor Tool and then helped start the Air Tool Division of Stanley Tools where he eventually became Vice-President of the Engineering Department. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Lyndhurst, Ohio until retiring to Florida with his wife. Arrangements for internment in the spring at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg, Ohio will be handled by Woodlawn Funeral Home, Gotha, FL. Memorial donations can be made to Vitas Hospice Care.
