As a loving, spirited child, Darcy grew up playing, laughing and surrounded by nature. She cherished all her pets, friends, and family members. Darcy was often seen with a smile that was very contagious. Being a caring girl, Darcy shared everything given to her. Her gifts to us; love & kindness.

November 8th 2002 Darcy came into my life. Her kindness and warmth won my heart. Throughout the years we have had so many wonderful experiences. She moved to New Hampshire while I was attending college at UNH. It was there that our relationship began to grow. It was there that I began to understand her love of animals. She brought her cockatiel, Tweety with her. This was a new experience for me. Tweety didn't like me very much but he would try to tolerate me. Every time I would walk by the cage he would cry out yelling "DAAAARRRCCCYYYY" to which she would reply "What are you doing to my bird?" We then adopted two cats (Willie and Meow Meow). My love for animals was beginning to grow, thanks to Darcy.
From there she joined me in Saint Louis where we enjoyed going to Grants Farm and the Saint Louis Zoo. She was the only person that I knew who could love kissing a camel.
After Saint Louis we settled down in Windermere, Florida. It was there that we adopted our two other animals (Monkey the cat and Tessie the hedgehog). Did I mention that Darcy loved animals? I have never seen a bond between an animal and a person like Darcy had with Tessie.
There wasn't an animal that she met that didn't instantly fall in love with her including strays or neighbor’s pets. Upstairs from us our neighbor Robert has a golden retriever, Allie who was skittish around people...but not around Darcy. Immediately Allie approached Darcy without any sort of hesitation. They were immediately bonded forever. In fact Robert always said that he never received the welcomes that Darcy did. Allie would run up to Darcy from the other side of the pond and jump onto her and give her hugs and kisses.
Her love for animals gave her the desire to become a groomer. She attended the Florida Institute for Animal Arts where she received her diploma in grooming. She then worked at PETCO where she would handle all of the "crazy" animals that the other groomers felt were difficult. For some reason she could immediately calm them down. She had a sixth sense for all animals.
In addition to grooming she also pet sat for my mother. My mother’s two dogs, Brady and Remy, fell in love with her from the start. Remy was an abused rescue and would always make sure to cuddle up next to Darcy at all times no matter who was in the room. They also made sure to always greet Darcy first when we arrived at the house, typically running past me first. Did I mention that she loves animals?
Believe it or not Darcy did enjoy other things. We loved going to Disney together, taking trips together, going out to eat together, watching movies together...actually we just loved being together. We went to places such as Tennessee, Boston, Saint Croix and Aruba. Even in these locations I could see her love of animals. In Aruba she even fed our $25 fruit tray to the iguanas.
Darcy was my rock. She was always there for me in my times of need; always willing to give herself to make sure that I was ok. I am so glad that she came into my life even though 10 years was much too short. I love you Darcy and you will be in my heart forever and a day.
