

Derrick Lloyd Hart of Ocoee, FL, departed from this life on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Cornerstone Hospice of Clermont, FL at the age of 75. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica, W.I. to Victor Hart and Josephine Morgan on June 12, 1941.
He leaves behind his devoted wife and caregiver, Yvonne (Parkes) Hart; five daughters; Doreen (Maxine) Hart of Orlando, FL, Marlene Albert of Mulberry, FL, Fay Grant (Clive) of Bronx, NY, Lisa Hart of Ocoee, FL, and Toni Hart of Lakeland, FL; one stepson, Alexander Thomas of Ocoee, FL; twelve grandchildren, LeVar Hart, Corey Hart, Khiry (Giselle) Hart, Tevon (Shameka) Campbell, Kingler Williams, Leon Albert, Orissa Albert, Dane Blake, Damon Bryan, Naja Hart, Kenya Wiggins and Camryn Wiggins; five great-grandchildren, one on the way; and many close family members and friends.
In his younger years, Derrick worked as a bus conductor for the Jamaica Omnibus Service (JOS) where he met his wife, Yvonne, of 46 years, who was a conductress. A lover of truck driving, Derrick also worked as a Sales Distributor for Desnoes & Geddes (D&G), widely known for their RedStripe and Guinness Stout. Derrick quickly excelled within the company as a leading Salesman. Already well known throughout his community, this honor earned him a place on D&G’s advertisements and billboards which were posted throughout Jamaica.
Following his wife, who left before him, Derrick came to the United States in 1971. He began his professional career as an Laboratories Electrical Engineer with AT&T Bell in New Jersey. At that time, Bell Labs was largely responsible for personal computing and digital cellular telephone technology. Derrick retired to Florida after serving over 25 years with AT&T.
Known affectionately as “Dadda” and “GrandDude”, Derrick was truly loved by all and shall be missed by everyone.
