Edna Winifred Phelps Thompson, 91, of Pine Hills, Florida passed away on Thursday March 13, 2014. Mrs. Thompson was born on February 2, 1923 in Windsor, North Carolina to the late Franklin and Susan Phelps. Mrs. Thompson graduated from Chowan College with a degree in bookkeeping. She became a homemaker after having her children.Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband George Braxton Thompson, her son George B. Thompson Jr., grandson George B. Thompson III, her four brothers Albert, Thomas, Robert, and Franklin Phelps, her two sisters, Susan Elizabeth Phelps and Margaret Phelps. She is survived by her loving daughter Barbara (Joseph T.) Johnson, her grandson, Joseph Taber Johnson IV, and three great grandchildren, Taber, Trenton, and Tate Johnson.
