Ellen Grace (Jones) Paschal, age 90, of Orlando, FL, passed away on February 28, 2024. Ellen was the youngest of four children of Sam Henry and Spicey Ellen (Basden) Jones. Ellen was a loving wife, mother, and friend who cared deeply about everyone around her. She loved to travel, play golf, tend her flower garden, cook, and be with her family. Her seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren affectionately called her ‘MomMom’ and she cherished tending and spending time with them in various activities.
Born on September 12, 1933, in Lenoir County, NC, Ellen faced early challenges as her father passed prior to her birth. She was placed in the Methodist Orphanage in Raleigh, NC, alongside her older sister at a young age and remained until she graduated high school where she was known by the nickname ‘Casey’ and was voted most athletic. Her mother and family remained close all through her time at the orphanage and she enjoyed lifelong friendships and annual reunions with her classmates. Despite these challenges, Ellen grew up to embody resilience, compassion, and a strong sense of family values.
Ellen traveled the world with her husband and family as a result of husband Don's work assignments and vacations. Starting out in their home state North Carolina they also lived in Colorado, Idaho, New Jersey, Marshall Islands, Iran, and retired in Florida close to family. Taking advantage of these assignments they traveled across the US, Hawaii, and Europe.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Donald Paschal Sr; sons Donald Jr, Phillip, and Jeffery; grandchildren Tamara, Rebecca, Todd, Heather, Trevor, Oliver, and Emma; great-grandchildren Kendall, Trey, Brandon, Brianna, Marlon, and Hayden. She was preceded in death by her mother Spicey, father Sam, brother Stacey, brother Sam, and sister Irene.
Ellen attended Methodist Orphanage for high school followed by Hardbarger Business College. She worked various jobs including Western Electric and retail sales but her heart and joy was in raising her family. She worshipped at Center Pointe Community Church and found solace and community in her faith.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Methodist Home for Children at https://www.mhfc.org/donate/. The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Gotha, FL.
Ellen will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile, and unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will be cherished by all who knew her.
