John was a loving, caring, hardworking individual. Loved by many and will be missed by all. He was an amazing father, son, brother, and husband for his entire life. He recently moved himself from Orlando, FL to Sarasota, FL. He loved the beach and fishing more than anything. He was also an avid golfer in his spare time. He attended the University of Notre Dame. He loved his three children more than words could explain as well as his parents Richard and Charlotte Hamlin and his siblings Suzy LaBrie, Kathy Galanto, and Tom Hamlin. A day will never go by without him in our thoughts and hearts.
A word from his daughter Emily
My dad was not only my dad but my best friend. I used to call on my way home from working at Disney and we’d talk the whole 45 minute drive at midnight every night. I am beyond grateful that just a week before his passing I took the trip down to Sarasota for a visit. I have never been one to have a lifelong best friend, and he filled that void for me over the last 5 years especially. I will miss my father every day for the rest of my life, but I know he is in heaven with my brother Michael and they are having the time of their lives. You are both my guardian angels and I know you are with me every day. I love you and will live every day of my life to make you proud.
A word from his son Adam
My dad was a great man, he showed us all that love really does trump everything else. Through our ups and downs my dad never stopped loving me, and never stopped being there for me when I needed him. It’s thanks to him being there for me in some of my darkest hours that I am the man I am today, and that I continue to strive to be a man he can be proud of.
A word from his daughter Samantha
My dad was an amazing man, with an extremely warm and caring heart. He was always there for me, through both the good and the bad times, and knew just what to do to keep a smile on my face. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him; it brings me peace to know he will be looking down on us from heaven, guiding us through the rest of our lives as our guardian angel.
“If I could get another chance, another walk, another dance with him, I’d play a song that would never end. How I’d love, love, love to dance with my father again.”
- Luther Vandross
We love you daddy!
