

Keith Webster Callahan, 75, of Longwood, Fl. passed away on Tuesday May 13, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Keith was born on May 8, 1939 in Gretna, Va. to the late Paul and Opal Q. Callahan. Keith graduated from Danville Tech. Institute with an A.S. in Electrical Engineering. He worked as a production manager for Piezo Technology Inc. for several years and then the latter part of his career as a Loss Control Rep for Insurance Management Companies, Adjustco, Aims and First Commercial Insurance. He retired in 2006. He was very active in Civic affairs. He was active in the Orlando Jaycees and served as President in 1972-1973. He was a Jaycee Colonel and a JCI Senator. He was a director for the Orlando Touchdown Club 1984-1986. He was president of Miss Florida Scholarship Pageant from 1981-1988. Keith was very involved with the Downtown YMCA and served as a past board member. He enjoyed the Y and served in many other capacities. He would arrive early and run 5-7 miles each am with other Y members around downtown Orlando. He loved watching NFL and college football. He loved college basketball and always enjoyed March Madness. He was known for his quiet sense of humor and was a man of few words. He loved helping people and doing favors for others. During his Jaycee years his favorite charity was The Russell Home for Atypical Children. He was a member of Journey Christian Church. He was the fellowship chairman for First Christian Orlando for many years and enjoyed cooking and arranging many dinners and Thanksgiving Breakfast. He is survived by his wife, Carole Kay Callahan, two sons, Keith W. Callahan, Jr., Kevin W. Callahan, and his wife Melinda and a precious grandson Breck Callahan, who was a delight for Papa Binky. He has two surviving brothers, Melvin Callahan, (Janie, deceased), and Michael R. Callahan (Mary). He was preceded in death by a brother Caryl Callahan, (Evelyn) and two sisters, Clarice Callahan, Aurice Boles, (Ray) In lieu of flowers the family requests donations may be made to The Russell Home for Atypical Children, or Downtown YMCA or Journey Christian Church in Apopka, FL. A Memorial Service will be held at Journey Christian Church 1965 S. Orange Blossom Trail Apopka, Florida 32703 on Friday May 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Woodlawn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
