She was born in Northvale, New Jersey on November 2, 1932. Margaret graduated from Saint Cecilia Catholic School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Montclair New Jersey State Teachers College. She had a passion for classroom teaching and teaching Latin to high school students of the United States Air Force at Pepperrell Air Force Base, Newfoundland, Canada (where she met her husband). She married Kenneth Alden Carlson on August 20, 1960. They moved on to Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas after being married. She became a homemaker once her first child was born.
She was a longtime parishioner of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and had a passion for travel in her early adulthood, an avid reader up to her final days, and enjoyed making sure her home was decorated for every holiday. Margaret also enjoyed classic movies, especially musicals. Among her favorites was White Christmas. While immensely private herself, she always encouraged her husband and daughters in their many social, scholastic and civic activities.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ken, her parents, Cesarina and Joseph Appendino, and siblings John (Christa) Appendino, Mary Appendino, Teresa (Lloyd) Carr, and Josephine (Pat) McGuiness.
She is survived by her children Cheryl (Tom) Collins, Lisa (Paul) Woolard, and Tina (Joe) Trybus, grandchildren Wesley (Alex) Woolard, Samantha Woolard (Landon) Eley, Hannah Trybus (John) Kennedy, Madeline Trybus (Connor) McClellan, Ava Trybus and Tanner Collins, and her great grandchildren Fred Woolard, Walker Woolard, Banks Eley, James Eley, Claire Kennedy, Jack Kennedy, Liam McClellan and Baby McClellan due Sept 2025.
Marge and Ken both received loving care from our fourth sister, Michele Oreste for over 9 years, and countless other Visiting Angels including Lisa Sorice. We are forever grateful!
A private funeral mass will be held at a later date for her family and close friends at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. She and Ken will then be laid to rest together at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha.
