Maria Carmela Conte

Maria Carmela Conte, 81, of Orlando, Florida passed away on March 12th, 2024. She was born on the island of Ponza, Italy on July 6th, 1942 and later married Pompeo Conte on April 16th, 1961. Seven short years later, Maria would convince her husband to join the rest of his family in New York City. While living in the Bronx, Maria became a proud U.S. Citizen, worked as a seamstress, and became a loyal employee of Farberware Cookware. Not being able to have children of her own, Zia Maria (as she was known to all) became everyone's favorite aunt and godmother. After retirement, Maria and Pompeo decided to move to sunny Orlando, Florida to be closer to her younger sister Anna, and her two nephews, Robert and Michael. While in Florida, Maria enjoyed gardening, traveling, cooking and baking (she did have a sweet tooth!), shopping, and attending mass. Maria and Pompeo both enjoyed music and dancing; however, nothing brought more joy to her than her summer trips to Italy and her native island of Ponza. There she would enjoy spending time with her other sister, Lucia, and niece, Virginia. She loved the beach, especially Spiaggia Di Frontone, and catching up with old friends, relatives, and cooking various seafood dishes. She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, love, and care. She was survived by her husband, Pompeo, younger sister, Anna, many brother and sister in laws, and dozens of nieces and nephews as well as god children. May she rest in peace.

A visitation for Maria will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. A funeral service will occur Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5125 S Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando, FL 32819. A committal service will occur Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 2:45 PM to 3:00 PM, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734.
