Martha R. Christensen, age 101 1/2, went to be with the on Lord February 14, 2014. In her final days, she was lovingly and faithfully cared for by her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Martha was born in Mechanicsburg, PA and moved to Orlando at the age of twelve. After working for a brief time in the sheet music department at McCrory’s on Orange Avenue, she started her career at Johnson Electric where she “reigned” for the next fifty-five years.
She met her beloved husband, Louis G. Christensen, at the age of seventeen and they were married three years later. From that day forward, they spent every day together for the next sixty four years, not only as husband and wife, but also as business partners and best friends.
Martha was a devoted Christian and lived a life of example for her two daughters, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The love she gave to her family is immeasurable and will be greatly missed.
It is now, however, time to celebrate her life and rejoice in the fact that she is now living in Heaven, reunited with her sweet “dearie” Louis and countless other family and friends who made the journey before her and have anxiously awaited her arrival. It is also most fitting that she left this life on February 14 to spend eternity with her Valentine.
Martha is survived by her daughters Doris Massey and Faith Purcell (George); her grandchildren Doug Massey, Martha Wood (Larry), Mark Massey (Samantha), Ellen Tatich, David Tatich (Lea Evelyn) and Susan Phelps; and her great-grandchildren Michael (Kelly) Massey, Morgan Williams, Ryan Wood, Jamie Wood, Miles Massey, Hannah Phelps, Kyle Tatich and Grant Tatich.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Louis G. Christensen, her brother George H. Heisey, Sr. and sister Grace Bates.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2:00 pm at First Alliance Church, 3800 Lake Underhill Road, Orlando, FL 32803. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow. Services are under the direction of Woodlawn Memorial Funeral Home, Gotha, Florida.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the Christian & Missionary Alliance Great Commission Fund, in care of First Alliance Church, a cause Martha and Louis both deeply believed in and supported.
