
Born December 1, 1927 in Kosciusko, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Estelle (Burchfield) and Fred Boyette. She was a graduate of Ethel High School. On February 3, 1947 she married William L. May.
Maccine was known for the love of her family and her homemade chocolate pies. She loved having family gatherings at her home in Christmas surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved to take road trips with her sister Bill and never thought twice about jumping in the van and hitting the road.
In her early years Maccine was a homemaker as she traveled through 37 states with her Spartan Travel Trailer. Always making sure her seven kids were looked after. As the kids grew older she worked at a laundry mat and as a hotel housekeeper, and then for many years the highlight of her career was a as a tollbooth collector. Her colleagues liked to call her “May”.
Maccine will be deeply missed by her sister Elaine (Bill) Lee, children Tim May, Mims (Gedean) May, Haward (Laurie) May, Eric May, Teresa (James) Sokolovic, Kevin (Terri) May, and all of Orlando, Florida. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and brother Harlon Boyette further survive her.
In addition to her parents Maccine was preceded in death by a daughter Sheila (Michael) Wymer, brothers Coleman and James Boyette and daughter in law Camille (Tim) May. . Private services for the family will be held at a later date.
