Monte attended Ocoee elementary, junior, and senior high schools. He participated in minor league baseball, junior high football, and the high school marching band. He was a Boy Scout, obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout, and a member of the Boy Scouts' "Order of the Arrow." After high school graduation, he went to work at Disney World, then Continental Can Company, while attending Valencia Community College and UCF. In 1982, he married the love of his life, Anna (Annie) Marie Weltz. He worked at Continental Can Company until a permanent layoff in 1987. He then began working in the home construction industry, becoming a superintendent for a home builder. In 1990–91, he and his wife (Annie) built their home on Lake Gifford (Southwest Orange County) and raised their family there.
In 1991, he changed careers again and began working for Certified Home Building Inspectors. After 29 years working as a home inspector, he retired in May of 2020.
At various times in his life, he held Florida state licenses that included Real Estate (inactive broker), Residential Builder, Home Inspector, and Florida Termite Inspector. In addition to his Florida state licenses, he was a licensed private pilot and commercial drone pilot.
He loved his family: his father, mother, three brothers (Alan, Eddie, and Mark), his wife (Annie) of 43 years, and his three daughters, Karly, Margaux, and Summer; his sons-in-law, Hugh and T.J.; prospective son-in-law, Peter; and his grandchildren, Annabel, Samuel, Lucas, and Eliza. He also appreciated everyone who was part of his life.
His travels included much of the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, Venezuela, and parts of Western Europe.
His hobbies included camping, flying (including flying his drone), water skiing, boating, fixing things, and yard maintenance.
He enjoyed Stoicism philosophy and the music of the 60s, 70s, and other music along the way. He passed as a happy man, understanding our limits of time here on earth, enjoying the things of beauty and love, and accepting "fate," which we all encounter on our journey of life.
Thoughtfully written by Monte Ray Meeks himself.
