

Orville John Haag, 89 of Leesburg Florida passed away on Monday January 30, 2017. Orville was born in Chicago Illinois on October 21, 1927 to the Late George W. Haag and Edna Staehle Haag. Mr. Haag will be dearly missed by countless family members and friends.
As a child Orville was able to visit the Chicago Worlds Fair of 1934 which was just a preview to the beautiful life which he was going to see unfold in his nearly 90 years of life.
As a young man Orville was a fantastic musician playing numerous brass instruments including the trumpet, French horn, and the baritone tuba one of his favorites. Raised in Blue Island, Illinois Orville was proud of his German heritage equaled only to his pride in being an American.
Orville worked in the insurance industry for the majority of his life. Before he was a senior underwriter for the Home Insurance Company he was an insurance adjuster and even recalled adjusting claims for the Bakersfield Earthquake in California in 1952. His insurance career continued from “The Home” to the O.S. Bruner agency where he worked with the long haul trucking insurance business and culminated with his position of Senior Vice President of the North Atlantic Casualty Insurance Company a division of The Vasa-Brougher Insurance Corporation in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Orville and his loving wife Lois McNeill Haag were avid gardeners. Earning their Master Gardener Degrees from Purdue University Orville and Lois were members of The Orchid Society, the Dalila Society and most recently members of the Tropical Fruit Club of Orlando, Florida.
In retirement Orville and Lois moved to central Florida where they became a part of their beautiful community in Highland Lakes on the south side of Leesburg.
Orville and Lois attended Morrison United Methodist Church together. Orville was proud to be a Christian man and even on the day of his passing said he wasn’t afraid to go because he knew where he was going.
Orville and Lois were proud to have traveled the world together and in their 52 years of marriage have visited every continent on earth. By ship, air, automobile and rail. Orville loved trains, mystery novels, English television and more.
Most of all Orville Haag loved his family and friend deeply and dearly. Everyone who knew him loved him as well.
In his passing he leaves behind his loving wife Lois Ruth McNeill Haag, his eldest and “Number 1” son Derk Orville Haag and his wife Nancy of Micanopy, Florida. He was a “Hero” to his devoted and loving daughter Lori Ann Mitchell and her husband David of Indianapolis, Indiana, and his youngest son Shawn Francis Haag and his wife Laurie of Howey In The Hills, Florida. His loving sister Barbara (Babs) Rosenbaum, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren. His wonderful niece Amy Rosenbaum his dear sister in law Joan McNeill and so many more family, friends and loved ones.
A very generous, funny, proud, honorable and loving man, equally comfortable in the corporate board room, erecting a fence, growing a garden or traveling the world Orville will really be missed by all. His long life has given everyone fond memories of a great man.
Knowns as Hubby, Dear, Daddy, Poppy, My Hero, Grandpa, Orv, Bud and more. We love you and already miss you so much
