Paulus Gene Dalton, born to Delbert and Ann (Bowen) Dalton in Inez, Kentucky on July 2nd, 1946, passed into eternal glory on March 21st, 2025 after a 5 year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was lovingly cared for by his wife of 58 years, Helen (James) Dalton, in their home until he stepped into the presence of Jesus.
Paul and Helen were high school sweethearts who married on August 27th, 1966. After Paul returned from the Army, where he served as a staff supply sergeant in Germany during the Vietnam War, they began their married lives at Morehead State University. He was honored to have served his country, which in turn gave him the opportunity to get an education and build a good life for his family.
Paul never met a stranger and his gift was acts of service. He would give anyone the shirt off his back. Always fighting for the underdog, he wanted everyone to find their way out of poverty like he was able to do. Everyone was valuable in his eyes. After he graduated from college, he took a job at the Ohio State Health Department and moved his family to Columbus, Ohio. He worked hard to be a provider and retired from the State Of Ohio on February 2nd, 1996, after 30 years of service.
As a husband, father, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend, he left a mark on our hearts with his big personality. He will be missed greatly.
Paul is survived by his wife, Helen, his daughter, Michelle Dalton Paswaters, son-in-law, Robert Paswaters Jr., grandchildren Katelyn Paswaters, Megan Paswaters and Sofia Paswaters of Winter Garden, Florida; Sisters-in-law, Linda Dalton of Amanda, Ohio and Winnie Dalton of Ontario, Ohio. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Hubert Dalton, Daryl Dalton, Delbert Daltona nd sister-in-law, Debbie Dalton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Gotha, Florida.
