Dr. Ramesh Ramdeo Boodhoo, 77, of Orlando, Florida passed away on September 29, 2025. He was born in Guyana on December 7, 1947. He graduated from Mid-America Nazarene College in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion, followed by a master’s degree in education and history from Southern Nazarene University in 1986, and completed his PhD in Educational Leadership from Barry University in 2009.
He married Maureen Jagdeo on June 10, 1972. They have joyfully celebrated 53 years of wedded bliss. Dr. Ramesh Ramdeo Boodhoo served as a pastor for the Wesleyan Holiness and Nazarene Churches, with various appointments in Guyana, Trinidad, the US Virgin Islands, Texas, and Florida. His career in ministry spanned almost 27 years. He was always an ardent academic and had a passion for teaching. Dr. Ramesh Ramdeo Boodhoo taught courses in American, US, and World History, Strategies for Success, Critical Thinking, and General Psychology at both Everest University and Valencia Community College for 16 years. After suffering a stroke in late 2016, he retired from teaching, much to his chagrin. Hebrews 12:12-13 became an integral part of his daily existence after the stroke. It states, “Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed”. He sought healing in this life or the next.
He is survived by his wife Maureen Boodhoo, son Ronald Boodhoo, daughter in law Jacqueline Boodhoo, and sisters Savitree Subkaran, and Gaithri Boodhoo.
He is predeceased by his father Jurakahn Boodhoo, mother Mildred Boodhoo, sister Sabita Boodhoo, and brothers, Shamsundar Boodhoo and Suresh Boodhoo.
The funeral service for Dr. Ramesh Ramdeo Boodhoo will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home on October 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
