McDugald, Samuel Jeremiah "Mac", 85, of Orlando passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2013. He was born in Brantley, AL on August 19, 1927. Having lost his father at the age of 7 during the Great Depression, he had to enter the work force at the age of eleven to help support his mother. As a young teenager he worked in the dairy industry, and by the age of 15 became a supervisor. He eventually put those skills to use in the United States Army making ice cream for post-war soldiers in Austria at the end of World War II. Several years later, Thomas G. Lee offered Mac a position at his dairy in Orlando. So Mac moved from Alabama along with his family to Orlando in 1951 to work for TG Lee Dairy. He became vice president of production where he oversaw the tremendous growth of one of Central Florida's finest dairies. He retired from the dairy in 1990 after 38 years of leadership. One of his favorite accomplishments was perfecting the, then famous, TG Lee Egg Nog recipe.
After retiring from TG Lee in 1990, he and his wife Melba moved to St. Augustine Beach and from there they spent many years traveling the country and the world with dear friends. Last year they moved back to Orlando.
He was a loving husband, son, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Melba, daughter Faye Seegers (Ken), son Bruce McDugald(Camille), step daughters Lisa Copeland(Harry, dec.), Lauri Gentry(Scott) and several grand children and great grand children. He was proceeded in death by his first wife Gerthie, infant daughter Teresa, and son Leon. An only child, he stayed very close to his mother, Izora, his entire life until her death in 2003 at the age of 101. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all.
Mac and Melba are members of Pershing Avenue Christian Church in Orlando, and attended Anastasia Baptist Church in St. Augustine the years they lived there.
