Stephen was a devoted husband to his wife, Sandra (Sochocki) Aldrich, and a proud father to his three children, Simone, Stephen, and Susanne. Family meant everything to him, and he took great joy in being a grandfather to his six granddaughters- Hailey (13), Kaitlin (10), Cadence (13), Avery (9), Emerson (9), and Kassidy (10), each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Stephen had a lifelong passion for construction, taking pride in building custom homes and fixing things with skill and dedication. He also loved travel, enjoying the journey itself. He was fascinated by airplanes, trains, and cruise ships finding wonder in how things worked and where they could take you. These interests reflected his curious nature and appreciation for craftsmanship.
During his life, he spent time in Colorado, where he met his wife Sandy and had his first daughter, Simone. He returned later to Massachusetts, where his son Stephen and second daughter Susanne were born. He oversaw the reconstruction of the historic Garrison Inn and several buildings in downtown Newburyport prior to starting his custom home construction company. Later, Stephen relocated to Florida where he finished raising his family.
He was the son of Gretchen Stephens and Donald Aldrich, and is survived by his siblings, James Aldrich and Janet Hablow. Stephen will be remembered as a hardworking, thoughtful man who deeply loved his family and found happiness in both adventure and togetherness.
Those who knew Stephen will remember his steady presence, his interests that sparked conversation, and the way he showed his love through time spent and care given. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the family he cherished so deeply.
A celebration of life (from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm) and a service (at 11:00 am) will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park, located at 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734.
