

Thurman Lee Allen, 91, of Ocoee, Florida went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 7, 2017. He was born on June 21, 1925 in Center Point, Howard County, Arkansas to the late Ben Edgar Allen and Martha Finety Moore. He was one of 14 children.
On December 2, 1941, when Thurman was 17 years old, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and remained until June 1, 1942. He enlisted in the US Army on April 30, 1948 and served his country until May 21, 1954, including time in the Korean War. Thurman graduated from Diesel mechanic School in Nashville, Tennessee where he met his wife Mary Evelyn Haraway of Lexington, Alabama. They married on February 4, 1956.
Thurman was a master technician with Chrysler Corporation and later went on to start his own business as a tool salesman. He and his brother, Bennie, believed that “It was always 5 o’clock somewhere!” Later in life, he traveled around the country in his motor home and moved to a 55+ singles RV community in Bushnell, Florida.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Ben and Martha; loving wife, Evelyn; brother, Bennie; and many other loving relatives. Thurman is survived by 2 sisters, Olene Smith and Willie Mae Stone, and a great number of nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are welcome to gather at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha, Florida on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:00 am.
