Una Francis was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica on March 18, 1936 to the late Henry & Alfreda (Morgan) Cunningham. She was the 4th out of 5 children. Her father passed away when she was young, and her mother raised them on her own.
Una’s no-nonsense attitude assured you she was always honest and forthcoming, which was balanced beautifully with her hospitality. She was an amazing cook and would always welcome her friends and family with delicious, traditional Jamaican dishes. Early in life, she came to America, where she worked as a dressmaker. Later, she entered the hotel industry, moving up the ranks to become a supervisor at the Park Lane Hotel in New York. She resided in Brooklyn, New York for many years. After she retired in 2006, she moved to Orlando, Florida. Una was a friendly face in her community and at church.
She will always be remembered.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia; her granddaughters, Kamisha and Ashley-Denise; grandchildren, Josiah, Sophia, and Skyler; her siblings, Enid Walker and Winston Cunningham; and many nieces and nephews.
Please join us on Saturday, May 20 at Faith Cathedral Deliverance Center in Orlando, Florida for a 12:00pm viewing, followed by a Celebration of Una’s Life at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, you are welcome to make a donation towards funeral expenses.
