

HARTER, Van Wesley, age 36, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 24, 2012, in Windemere, Florida. He was born to Herold (June) Harter, III, and Joyce (Vince) Girardi on January 7, 1976 in Toledo, Ohio.
Van was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dr. Herold M. and Gladys M. Harter, Jr. (Moritz) and maternal grandparents, Jack and Edith (Spivey) Grogan. He is survived by fiancé, Jackie Luz Ricardo, step-children, Naomi Cornieles and Fernando Ricardo, siblings, Jenny (Brad) Bentley, Lisa (John) Rowell, Rachel (Kenneth) Fashbaugh and Kyle (Kimberly) Wymer and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great-niece.
Van played basketball for Avon Lake High School where he graduated in 1994 and also for The College of Wooster graduating in 1998, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He graduated from Rutgers University in 2002 with a degree in Turf Management. Most recently, he worked as a superintendent at Orange County National. He also enjoyed golf and boating.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 26th from 6 pm – 8 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home 400 Woodlawn Cemetary Road, Gotha, FL 407-293-1361. An Ohio-based memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a local animal rescue of your choice
