Virginia Griffith Aktay,87, of Orlando, FL. was born on March 1, 1927, in Arcadia, FL. Mrs. Aktay passed away on Sunday October 26, 2014, at Four Fountains Convalescent Center in Belleville, IL. Mrs. Aktay retired from Martin Marietta. She had been a member of Pine Hills United Methodist Church, Orlando, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ferit Yavuz Aktay; her parents, William Louis Griffith and Irvenne Clay Davis Griffith; sister, Julia Clay Switlick Sperti; and two brothers, Gerald Glasscock Griffith and William Louis Griffith Jr. She is survived by her two daughters, Julia (Paul) DeRanek, of Kansas City, Mo. and Suzan Aktay (Ken) Reinhardt of Belleville, IL. three grandchildren, Jason P. DeRanek, Michael L. Reinhardt, and Stephanie M. Reinhardt, and her sister, Dorothy Undine Smith. Visitation will be held on Thursday October 30, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm with a service to follow at 2:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha.
