

Walter was born on November 28, 1924 to Joseph Robert Tucker and Nonie Elizabeth (Rutherford) Tucker and was the second oldest of four sons. He graduated from Avon Park High School prior to enlisting in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Walter attended the University of Miami and then returned to Central Florida and began his career in business. He was a consummate businessman and owned a series of successful ventures during his lifetime.
Walter was known for his warmth and the kindness and generosity he showed to all. He was a devoted family man and will always be remembered for his encyclopedic knowledge, imaginative stories, daily calls and emails to check in with family wherever they were in the world, and his playful sense of humor.
He will be sorely missed by Evelyn, his wife of 56 years, his daughter Karen and son-in-law Mark Marlow, his daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law Thomas Haberkamp, his granddaughter Victoria and her husband Jared Lord, his grandson Richard, his granddaughter Michele, his brother Carl, his brother Dale and sister-in-law Marie, several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many, many friends.
At Walter's request, no funeral or memorial services will be held. The family respectfully requests any donations, if desired, be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Walter.
