

died Monday, May 9, 2011, at Huntsville Hospital in Alabama.
Mr. Corlew lived and worked in Flint, Michigan where he was a proud member of Flint
UAW Local #599 for more than 30 years. A family-centered man, he loved spending time
with his relatives near and far, making regular treks to Michigan after his relocation in
1994 to Athens, Alabama.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing cards with his family. An army veteran who
served in Korea, Mr. Corlew was very patriotic. He loved RC Cola, country music, and
classic cars.
Mr. Corlew is survived by his wife, Larena; his sister Barbara Martin (Lee); four
daughters: Julie Corlew (Dave), Stephanie Corlew, Sherri Hakes (Steve), and Melinda
Ealey (Wayne); a son, Jasen Sanchez (Anne); and 11 grandchildren: Brandan, Brianna,
Tyler, Ashlee (Gabe), Alissa, Derek, Erin, Cody, Anthony, Chayse, and Krystopher. His
first two great-grandchildren are expected later this year. He is also survived by his nieces
and nephews (and their families): Susan (Don), Sandy, Beverly (Bill), Leon (Cindy),
Theresa (Frank), Kim (Dan), Ron (Monica), Rod (Rachel), Randy (Nicole), Tina, Dawn
(Jon), Danna (Danny), and Danene (Tony).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Jean (Hager) Corlew; his brothers,
Max Corlew, Jr. and Marvin Corlew; and his nephew, Max Corlew, III.
Visitation is set for Friday, May 13, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home – Grand
Blanc Chapel, 1480 East Hill Road in Grand Blanc, MI.
Funeral service will be Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home –
Grand Blanc Chapel, with military honors to follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery,
2020 East Hill Road.
