

Bertha (Bert) Ellen (Camp) Roof, age 89, of Swartz Creek, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at her home peacefully. Cremation has taken placed and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Bert will be laid to rest with her late husband, Benjamin, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
Bert was born on March 14, 1937 in Grubbs, Arkansas to the late Lockwood (LD) D and Thelma (Southerland) Camp. Bert graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1955 and a few years later she married the love of her life, Benjamin (Ben) on August 23, 1958.
Bert had worked side by side with her husband, Benjamin, for over 40 + years at A-Frame Awards. Because of working at A-Frame Awards, she belonged to several organizations and served on many board of Directors within these organizations, including Michigan State USBC – Youth Board, Greater Flint Youth Board, Zonta Club of Greater Flint. Bert also was the Association Manager for the Michigan Alliance at Large for Youth Bowling from 15 + years. Bert was very devoted to her church, Our Savior Lutheran Church. She served in many capacities within the church. Bert was a wonderful and beautiful lady and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Ellen Roof-Crain, Jon (Amber) Roof; grandchildren: Nathaniel (Haley Cornell) Crain, Nickolas (Robin) Crain, Benjamin Roof, Alexis (Aaron Linn) Roof, Brianna (Daniel Diaz Jr) Newsom, Elizabeth (Chris) Erickson, Allison (Max Knight) Newsom; 13 great grandchildren; siblings: sister, Jeanette Webster; sister-in-law, Janice Krapohl, and brother-in-law Dan Roof; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin J Roof; her parents, Lockwood (LD) D and Thelma (Southerland) Camp; her in-laws, Benjamin C and Garnette Roof; brother, Doyle Dale Camp, Sr. sister-in-law, Rhonda Camp; sister-in-laws, Ruth Stempel and Doris Onstott; brother-in-laws: Henry "Jack" Krapohl, Don Webster; son-in-law, Stanley Crain; and nephews, Jack Krapohl and Bruce Kraphol.
