

BENSON, Corrine Sarah “Renee”, of Flint, age 87, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at her residence. A Celebration of Corrine’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc. The family will receive friends Saturday at 10 a.m.. Memorial contributions may be made to the Flint Institute of Art or the Flint Institute of Music. Corrine was born on August 30, 1922 in Ludington, Michigan, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Ursum) Loy. On July 19, 1943, she married Robert E. Benson in Ft. Meade, Maryland. Corrine graduated from St. Simons High School in Ludington and received a Bachelors degree from Western Michigan University. She was a member of the Flint Institute of Arts, Flint Institute of Music, The Art Class and the Needlework Guild. Corrine was a lover and supporter of the arts and enjoyed serving as a Docent with the Flint Institute of Arts, an avid gardener, and loved caring for her beloved cat “Sam”. She is survived by her children Rebecca Burke and husband Robert Rosebrugh of Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada, Michael Benson and wife Shelley Paden of Cincinnati, Ohio, Katherine and husband James Cheek of Davison and Robert Benson and wife Karen of Birmingham, Michigan. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Corrine was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1997, two sisters Bernice Shively and Kathlyn Shearer.
