

MORRISSEY, DAN, age 80, of Davison, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 29th, 2015. Dan was born on August 14, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the youngest of four sons of Thomas Leo and Mary Blanche Nickell Morrissey, whom preceded him in death. He spent his childhood in Farmer City, Illinois, as part of an active farming family and community. Dan attended Michigan State University where he played basketball. He graduated in 1957 and continued to be a proud Spartan throughout his life. Dan was a sports enthusiast and an avid Detroit Tiger’s fan. A favorite pastime was watching with pride, his children and grandchildren play sports. Spending time with his family brought him the most joy, with his family being the most important part of his life. He lived in the Davison area for the past 20 years. As the long-time owner of both the Ice Cream Junction and Otisville Dairy Delight, being a part of the Davison and Otisville business communities brought him much enjoyment and fulfillment. During the last 20 years, Dan enjoyed spending winters at his home in Estero, Florida. Dan was loved by his family and will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 45 years, Betty Morrissey; brother John Morrissey (deceased) his wife Marge: brother Kenneth Morrissey (deceased) his wife Marge (deceased); brother Paul (deceased) his wife Phyllis; his five children: Mary Nordstrom, her husband Paul and children John and Megan of Bellevue, WA; Martha Morrissey, and children Catherine and Claire of Bellevue, WA; John Morrissey, his wife Laura and children Sean, Andy, and Jamie of Clarkston, MI; Jim Morrissey, his wife Amy and children Michael, Caitlin, Anna and Matthew of Lincolnshire, IL; and Anne Rainis, her husband John and children Sarah and Emily of Lincolnshire, IL. Funeral arrangements will be made by Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S Saginaw St, Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Dan spent the last year of his life at Sterling House of Davison and the Cottages of Davison. The family would like to thank both businesses for his care along with Hometown Hospice and McLaren Hospice. A private family service for Dan Morrissey will be held at a later date.
