RIP DAN

Dan and I grew up in our early teen years together on the lake.  Went to school and played baseball together. Had a lot of fun for those few years. I moved to California in 1965 and we lost track of each other. Soon after my discharge from the Marines in 1969 Dan showed up at my door in his Marine uniform and we visited for awhile. That was the last time we spoke. Rest easy my friend.

The memory I have of Dan is his great spirit and his friendly smile that would light up a room.    My heart and thoughts go out to Jack , Edna, Linda and family.   Keep all the beautiful memories close to your heart and they will carry you through this most difficult time.

I didn't know Dan well.  We played on a few baseball teams together when we where probably 12 or 13, and then football at Waterford-Kettering during our high school years.

Never saw him again after his graduation.  But I will  say he was a ferocious and tenacious competitor on the athletic field and have to believe that's how he lived his life. His passing just causes me to stop and recall many  pleasant memories of him as we were both athletic teens growing up.

Dan and I grew up in the estates.  After discharge from the Corps, we did a lot of stomping around.  We played handball together, went to OCC together, went Pat hunting several times at my cabin in Lewiston, even did a little stint in an Army reserve unit in Frazier MI for a year or so for fun.  I moved to Gaylord in 1991, and Dan and I kinda lost track.  He stopped by a few years ago on his Harley, it was great to see him then.  I consider myself very lucky to have had Dan as my friend.  My wife and I were deeply saddened when Rick Lafay gave us this sad news.  His family, when they lived on Motorway were always welcoming and fun. Fraters Infinitas  Dan.  Rest easy Brother. 

I haven’t seen Dan since we graduated from Waterford Kettering HS in 1967. But every time I think of our 1966 undefeated football season , Danny is on my mind. He was a fierce competitor and a vital team member. His humor and grit contributed greatly to our success. R. I.P Dan Runyon!

Dan, Bev and I have traveled many roads in life together. In time we went our own way, but Danny has always been in our thoughts and will always be remembered and never forgotten . maybe we can ride on the other side together. Rest in peace Danny.

rip dan you well he missed by many of friends and family. You were a great friend and brother you well be missed.



Dan was very special to me. He would do a silly butt wiggle to make me laugh. He taught me the joy and comfort of owning a dog.  He convinced me to climb on the back of his Harley and we had some beautiful trips. Seeing his happiness on his 65th birthday watching the Tigers at spring training was my privilege and joy.  May he now have the joy of meeting in person St. Hubert, patron saint of hunters and dogs, whose medal he wore for so long.
