David was born on July 5, 1947 in Pontiac, MI to his parents, Gerald and Shirley Navarre. He graduated from the Oakland Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice in 1974. He married twice; he married his first wife Ruthanne Armistead in 1968. He married his second wife Honor Dawson in 1976. He spent the last twenty-five years with Suzie Caswell, she passed away February 15, 2019.
David served in the Army from 1967 till 1971. He participated in the Vietnam War. David was a retired General Motors employee. He was a snowbird and spent his winters in North Carolina, where Suzie and he had a house built.
David is survived by his uncle, Bill Hammitt (Mary Woodard); sister, Christine O’Berry (David O’Berry); nephews, Anthony O’Berry (Tiffany O’Berry), Jerald O’Berry (Brandi O’Berry), Eric O’Berry; great-nephews, Marty Quertermous, Taylor Quertermous, Dakota O’Berry; nieces, Cheyenne O’Berry-Bati (Anthony Bati), Skylar O’Berry, Jaden O’Berry, Sierra O’Berry, Haley O’Berry, Tonilyn O’Berry, Charlotte O’Berry; and great-nieces, Aurora Bati, Coralee Bati, Hadley Bati, McKenzie Bati.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Navarre; his mother, Shirley Navarre; his wife, Honor Navarre; and companion, Suzie Caswell.
The family will greet friends and celebrate David's life from 10:00am to 1:00pm on Monday, January 27, 2020. at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 South Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, Michigan. Inurnment with Military Honors will take place at 9:30am on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Please meet at the front gates by 9:15am.
