Russell, Edna Jean – Age 90, died Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Wynwood of Grand Blanc, Holly, Michigan. Mrs. Russell was born April 24, 1921 in Marissa, Illinois and had been a resident of Flint nearly her entire life. On May 16, 1942, she married Army Lt. John Timothy Russell, who preceded her in death on December 26, 1988. She and her husband were formerly co-owners of Magill China Co. in Flint. She later pursued a nursing degree and retired from St. Joseph Hospital on April 25, 1986, after 23 years of service to others. At Jean’s request her remains were cremated and no service was held. Jean believed in celebrating life and that life was for the living; she requested no flowers. She lived life to the fullest and she desired that friends and family do something happy to celebrate their lives and her memory. Jean is survived by: daughter Sandra Louise Jones (William) of Tampa, FL; son, John David Russell (Dorothy) of Boca Raton, FL; granddaughters Jane Dunbar of PA., and Amber Cooper of MO.; grandson, Michael Jones of Tampa, FL; step-grandson, Martin Smith of IL., four great-granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. She will be remembered fondly by her many friends at Kearsley Daly Villa. Jean’s family would like to thank good friends Bob and Carol Garrison and Kay Iddins and their families for making her life special in her later years.
