

O’ROURKE, Harold Patrick, “Pat” “Rook”, of Grand Blanc, age 101, died Friday, February 17, 2012 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Funeral mass will be held 11 am Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Church of the Holy Family, 11804 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, Fr. Kenneth Coughlin celebrant. Entombment to follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Mr. O’Rourke will lie in state at the church Thursday at 10 a.m. The family will also receive friends Tuesday from 6 pm to 8 pm and Wednesday, from 2 pm to 4 pm & 6 pm to 8 pm at the Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc. Rosary Service will be held 7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Pat was born January 25, 1911 in Saginaw, MI, to the late Patrick Thomas and Grace (Clark) O’Rourke. He had attended Flint Schools, St. Michaels School, and the General Motors Institute, now known as Kettering University, before joining General Motors where he held several management positions, and was the Superintendant of Paint at the Flint Assembly Plant on Van Slyke, before he retired following 45 years of employment. Pat was a Director of the Flint Industrial Executive Club and a member of the Warwick Hills Country Club for 25 years. An avid reader all of his life, Pat also loved golf. His beloved wife of 67 years, Agnes, preceded him in death in 2000. Surviving are his children, Maureen & husband Dr. Peter Capello of Ottawa Canada, sons Dennis and wife Shirley of Grand Blanc, Timothy & wife Katherine of Avon Lake, OH, and Patrick & wife Catherine of Chagrin Falls, OH. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren as well as a sister, Grace Meagher. In addition to his wife and parents, Pat was preceded in death by his brothers Al and Donald, and sisters Maria, Marion (Snyder) and Madolin (Keller)The family wishes to offer a special ‘thank you’ to the staff of Gentiva Home Health Care, as well as Genesys Hospice Care, for their compassionate care.
