James Ovid Dolkey

DOLKEY, James Ovid – age 62 of Davison, MI (formerly of Warren and Ishpeming, MI), passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at his residence. A memorial gathering will be held from 3PM-8PM on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Brown Funeral Home -1480 E. Hill Rd. Grand Blanc, MI. A Memorial Service will be held at 12PM on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Bethel Lutheran Church – 333 E. Ridge St. Ishpeming, MI. The family will receive visitors at the church from 10AM until the time of service. Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. James was born July 16, 1953 in Ishpeming, MI to Clarence C. and Dagnie “Ellen” (Salo) Dolkey. He attended Northern Michigan University where he earned his Bachelor degree. It was during his time at college that he met Lillian “Darlene” Herriman whom later he married in 1976 in Grand Blanc, MI. As a teenager, James was part of the Odd Fellows. James worked as a program analyst for TARCOM for 33 years. He was also a recent member of Elks Lodge #447, Fraternal Order of Eagles – Aerie #3589, and the Sons of the American Legions. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, sunset pontoon rides, and playing on his pool league. He is survived by his wife, Lillian “Darlene” Dolkey; mother, Dagnie “Ellen” Dolkey; siblings, Gary (Wanda) Dolkey, Cynthia (Joseph) Perry, Duane (Marcia) Dolkey, and JoAnn (Pete) Vils; and many other family members. James was preceded in death by his father, Clarence C. Dolkey. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.
