It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jimmy Eugene Meredith, a beloved father, friend, and dedicated worker, who left us on April 1, 2025. He was 83 years old. Born on October 1, 1941, Jimmy lived a life marked by hard work, love, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that life has to offer.
For 40 years, he devoted himself to General Motors, where his commitment and work ethic were admired by many. However, his restless spirit and desire to stay active led him to take on a second job as a janitor for Goodrich Schools. He found fulfillment in serving his community and always took pride in his work, no matter the role.
Though he had a dream of working on cars, the evolution of technology and the rise of computerized systems led him to step back from that aspiration. Instead, he channeled his talents into fixing and improving things around the house, often at the request of his beloved wife, Donna. Their partnership was a testament to their love, and he continued to honor her memory through the care he took in their home.
After the passing of Donna, Jimmy sought companionship and found it in an unexpected place. At the local dog pound, he met Hooch, a spirited dog who quickly became his loyal friend. Hooch brought joy and purpose back into his life, reminding him of the importance of companionship and unconditional love. Together, they shared countless adventures and quiet moments, and Hooch became a cherished part of his life.
In keeping with Jimmy's wishes, there will be no formal service. He was a simple man who lived life to the fullest, embracing each day with gratitude and a sense of humor. His absence will be felt deeply by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the memories we hold dear.
Jimmy is survived by his children; Scotty ( Anita) Meredith, Kevin Meredith and Karry( Jon) Lundquist, grandsons; Chris, Ben, Nate, Nick and Michael, granddaughters, Emily Bennett, Alyssa Ross and Reba, great-grandchildren; Aubri, Gage, Zoey, Bailey, Savannah and Sunnie, Nolan,Sophia, killian and Dakota, 2 bonus sons Justin and Joey, but most of all his best friend and loyal companion Hooch, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness, hard work, and love. He will be missed dearly, but his impact on our lives will never be forgotten. He is preceded in death by his wife; Donna parents James and Helen Meredith and his sister Rebecca.
Service for Jimmie Meredith will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 3:30pm at the Otter Lake Church of the Nazarene, 12351 Lake Road, Otter Lake Michigan 48463
