Marvin L. Kinney

KINNEY, Marvin L. – age 92 passed away, peacefully, on January 7, 2017 in Linden, MI. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 11 AM with one hour of visitation prior to at Cornerstone Baptist Church - 6273 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek, MI 48473 with Pastor Chris Yager officiating. Marvin was born on October 31, 1924 to late Earl and Emma (Gean) Kinney in Bald Knob, Arkansas. In 1944, Marvin married the love of his life, Catherine. For the next 70 years, they would create a life together full of love, laughter, and family. Some of these memories included his love of gospel music. He loved to sing with his brothers and sister in their gospel quartet. Marvin enjoyed studying the Bible and being deeply involved in the church. Marvin was a hardworking man, he spent many hours building beautiful houses for others to cherish. When he wasn’t building houses, he was fishing. He loved to fish! Marvin was a loving, hardworking, generous man who will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Chuck) Scott and son, Gary (Sharon) Kinney; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and brother, Leo Kinney. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Emma (Gean) Kinney; wife, Catherine Kinney; brother, Doyle Kinney and sister, Esther Grimmett.
