WOODBECK (Crump), Sally Velma Jean—age 92, went to be with our Lord on February 11, 2026, peacefully at home. Sally was born in Gilmore, Arkansas on December 26, 1933, to Everett Crump and Dora (Duncan). She graduated in 1952 from Montrose High School. On June 22, 1957, she married Harry Woodbeck Sr. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Flint.
She was a Eucharistic Minister, past President of the Altar Society, and a member of the Citywide Advisory Council in Flint. Sally was a Girl Scout leader for many years and a Founder alongside Harry Woodbeck in establishing their Hurley Flint East Neighborhood Crime Watch in Flint. She worked with Flint Schools to establish the Chapter 1 scholarship. She was a member of Saint Michael’s Catholic Church for over 50 years until its closing.
Matriarch of this family, she will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother of eight, and grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to many. Sally loved cooking, gardening, and taking wonderful vacations to Arkansas, camping along the way with no hotels just campsites and lots of fun.
She was never the sweet quiet little old lady type; she was a spitfire and she knew it. She said what she meant and meant what she said. If you needed the truth, she gave it to you straight no sugar coating. Behind that boldness was the biggest heart. You never once questioned whether she loved you; you knew. And you knew she would have your back no matter what. She was strength and loyalty. She was fire and she was ours.
