ANDRESEN, Sarah Elizabeth (Brier) – age 90 of Flint, MI passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2015 surrounded by her family. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 2:00PM at First Presbyterian Church – 746 S. Saginaw St., Flint, MI. Rev. Paul Ytterock and Pastor Steve Baillie officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 1PM until time of service at 2PM. Inurnment will be made in the Columbarium at First Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Downtown Crossover Ministries, Flint Community Players, or McLaren Hospice. Sarah was born in Memphis, TN on May 25, 1925 to the late Burgess B. and Elizabeth (Poston) Brier. On August 29, 1953 she was united in marriage to Dane Andresen in the chapel of Michigan State College. Sarah had a 25 year career as a teacher with the Flint Public Schools, working at WFBE – the Flint Board of Education radio station and McKinley Middle School. She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church and was involved with the Children’s Pageant, Circle, and Bible Study. She was an avid reader, a Second Monday Book Club member, and past President of Friends of the Library. Sarah was an actress with several local theatre groups including: New Vic Supper Theatre, Flint Community Players, Flint Youth Theatre, and Buckham Alley Theatre. She enjoyed the Flint Arts scene, such as the Flint Symphony and Flint Institute of Arts. She enjoyed the Stratford Shakespeare Festival faithfully since 1971 and was a member of the Flint Shakespeare Club. Sarah loved traveling to Bay City, MI, Rochester, MN, and Atlanta, GA to visit with her family. Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth of Bay City and Catherine of Flint; son Peter and wife Sherri of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter, Tomeka Chappell and husband Jason of Atlanta, GA; grandson, Justin and wife Julie of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Kalob, Dawson, Hannah, Logan, Hudson, Hallie, and Dane; nephews, Burgess and wife Terry and their family and Stewart and wife Peggy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dane Andresen; and brother, Burgess B. Brier. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.brownfh.com.
