Thomas Lee Pollard, age 80, passed away on April 16, 2026. He was born on April 15, 1946. Thomas will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Thomas devoted much of his time to the careful, imaginative work of building custom doll houses; projects shaped by patience, skill, and a quiet pride in craftsmanship. Among his creations was a detailed rendition of his favorite restaurant, Bob Evans, a reflection of the thoughtful care he brought to the things he enjoyed. A natural people person, Thomas was beloved by neighbors and family alike, and he held an especially close bond with his sister, June, whom he loved dearly.
Thomas built a life grounded in steady work and genuine connection. He spent time as the manager in the paint department of Montgomery Ward and later moved on to managing Ace Hardware on Fenton Road. Known for his familiar presence, he could often be found walking wherever he went—an everyday habit that seemed to match his approachable spirit and ease with others.
Thomas treasured time with his nieces and nephews, and family gatherings were made brighter by his famous mac and cheese with Kogel's hot dogs. Those moments were often marked by a phrase many came to expect and smile at; his unmistakable way of saying, “you betcha.”
Thomas is survived by his sister, June Marie Shelley; Nephews and Nieces Jeffrey (Sally) Shelley, Susan (Ted) Stewart, and Paul (Heather) Shelley; Great Nephews and Nieces Stephanie (Michael) Kefer, Brian (Courtney) Shelley, Jennifer (Ryan) Dodgson, Hannah (Marcus) Morris, Taylor (Sarah) Stewart, Holden Shelley, and Ashton Shelley. He is also survived by many great-great nephews, nieces, and many other loved ones and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Nellie Pollard.
A chapel service will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery, 4413 Flushing Road, Flint, MI 48504, on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 2pm. There will be a lunch gathering at Bob Evans in Flint following the chapel service for the family and friends of Thomas.
