Our beloved mother and wife, Alma Mae Hansen passed away in her home surrounded by her family Sunday evening September 29, 2019. She was the youngest of two girls born to Howard Leroy Bassett and Myrtle Marie Bassett. Alma (Amy) Mae Hansen was born on May 17th, 1935 at her grandmother’s home in Woodrow, CO. Her family moved to Broomfield, CO when Amy was 5 years old. She graduated from Lafayette High School. Amy was active in the 4-H club and an avid Broncos and Rockies fan. Bowling was a huge part of Amy’s life for over 50 years, she enjoyed traveling with her teammates to numerous regional, state and national tournaments over the years. Amy was proud to have bowled in the Colorado Women’s Bowling Association State Tournament for 25 consecutive years.
She was employed for many years with Rio Grande Motorways as a secretary. In April of 1960 Amy married the love of her life, Glen Hansen, to this union were born two sons. Glen and Amy built their dream home on property that they had purchased in Eckert, CO. They raised sheep and harvested peaches from their orchard. Amy ran the office of their business, Cedaredge Interiors, until she retired.
Amy leaves behind her husband Glen Hansen of Eckert, sons Michael (Cathy) Hansen of Eckert and David (Denise) Hansen also of Eckert; grandson Matt, granddaughters Jayme, Emily and Sam; several great grandchildren and a sister Donna Riddle of Midvale, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of life will be held at True Life Church in Cedaredge on October 12th at 10:00 AM. Graveside service will follow. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Martin Mortuary in Grand Junction, CO.
