Clay F. Prout died at his home in Grand Junction, Colorado, on Sunday, August 17, 2025. He and his family made Colorado their home since 1995 living for several years in Weston before moving to Grand Junction where he worked for Weststar Aviation. Born in San Antonio, Texas, on August 7, 1950, he was raised in Walnut Creek, California. He married Laura and together they raised a son, Colton. Clay completed a Masters in Business Administration at the University of Colorado, Pueblo. A skilled craftsman working in high end leather upholstery for aircraft, he was known also for his pottery which he signed “100% Clay”. He loved taking off on weekends to go camping in the desert and enjoyed hosting a wide variety of pets including tortoises and ducks. His dogs looked forward to a good hike everyday. Clay kept an extensive directory of friends, faithfully calling each on their birthdays year after year. He is survived by Laura, Colton, his brother and sister in California, and extended family. We miss you, Clay.
