Consuelo “Connie” Zamora, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by family.
Born on June 13, 1934, in Chama, New Mexico, to Presentacion and Rebecca Serrano. Connie lived a life full of love, strength, and devotion to her family. On April 10th, At just 16 years old, she married the love of her life, Avenicio “Abe” Zamora. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, eventually settling in Fruita, Colorado, where Connie lived for many years raising her children, and working as a nurse for 30 years in the grand valley area.
She is preceded in death by her cherished Husband Avenicio “Abe”, and her beloved Son Benerito “Ben” Zamora, her Sister Beatrice, and Brothers Joe D, Oracio “Horace”, and Pres Serrano.
Connie is survived by her sister Cleo (Joe) Sanchez, devoted children: Daughter Linda Vaughn and Husband Randy, Son Paul Zamora and Wife Kathryn, Son Randy Zamora and Wife Wendy, and Daughter Deanie Block. She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Jaush (Kaylee) Zamora, Erick (Melissa) Vaughn, Jarod Zamora, Abby (Adam) James, Ryan (Aylla) Zamora, Ashley (RJ) Montano, Duffy Toner, Sierra Vaughn, Jazzmyn Zamora, Asia, Paris, and Ireland Silva. 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Her life was defined by unconditional love, quiet strength, and the deep bonds she nurtured with those around her. Connie’s legacy will continue to live on through her family and the countless lives she touched.
A Rosary will be held on Monday, April 21st at 6:00pm at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Services will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd, at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by interment at Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita, CO. A celebration of life will be held after the burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
