Survivors include his wife, Donna; two sons, Scott and Todd, both of Grand Junction; one daughter, Sharon Williams of Grand Junction; and five grandchildren.

June 2, 1931 - August 6, 2015
George Dale Williams was born June 2, 1931, in Lamar, Colorado to George D. and Margaret Brown. After his parent's divorce in 1936, he moved to Grand Junction, Colorado with his mother and grandmother, Leona Scott. Dale's mother married Richard B. Williams in 1941, who later adopted Dale.
Dale attended Lowell Grade School and Grand Junction Junior High School and Grand Junction High School, graduating on his 18th birthday in 1949. While in high school he lettered in four varsity sports. He was active in student activities and was President of his senior class. He attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. While at CU, he was a member of Delta Tau Delta social fraternity.
He entered the U.S. Marine Corps reserve in May 1953 and was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in July 1954. He served three years as a platoon leader and company executive officer in the engineers and shore party battalions of the 1st Marine Division.
Dale and Donna MacKenzie were married on July 6, 1954, in Greeley, Colorado and recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. They were blessed with five wonderful children, Michael Williams (deceased), Scott Williams, Sharon Williams, Robert Williams (infant-deceased), and Todd Williams (Barbara). Dale and Donna have five beautiful grandchildren, Eric Williams, Chris Williams, Brooke Williams, Kendra Williams and Lauren Tibbetts.
Donna and Dale returned to Grand Junction in 1957 and entered into business with Dale's father in the Mesa County Abstract Co. (now known as Abstract & Title Company of Mesa County). Dale left in September 1963, and entered Denver University Law School. He graduated in December 1965 and returned to Grand Junction as a trust officer for the First National Bank. In 1968, Dale joined and formed a law firm with Jim Dufford, Ed Ruland and Jerry Uhrlaub. He was a partner in the law firm of Dufford, Waldeck & Williams, was a sole practitioner as also practiced in other partnerships with some wonderful lawyers. In 1985, Dale purchased the local Transamerica Title Insurance office and operated it with his sons, Michael, Scott and Todd until his retirement in 2006.
Dale was a devout and active member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and served in many capacities. He served eight years on the Colorado Diocesan Executive Council and was awarded the Bishop's Cross in recognition of his service.
Dale was involved in the following community activities: Executive Council Board member and past President of United Way of Mesa County; Trustee and Treasurer of Hilltop House; 32nd degree Mason; member of the Bookcliff Country Club, Grand Junction Rotary Club and the Elks Lodge; member of the Mesa County Bar Association (President 1976); board member of the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Development Inc. and Colorado West Improvements Inc.; chairman of the Advisory Committee to the Veterans' Administration Hospital. He incorporated Crime Stoppers of Mesa County and served on the initial Board of Directors. The Governor appointed him to the Judicial Nominating Committee for the 21st Judicial District. Dale taught real estate law and real estate closings for the Extension Division of Colorado University and the Savings & Loan Institute of America. Most recently he served on the Riverfront Foundation and was the first Chairman of the Western Colorado Suicide Prevention Foundation.
Some of the many highlights in Dale's life were family outings which included skiing in Aspen, cross-country skiing on the Mesa and trips to Lake Powell with the boat. He enjoyed golf, tennis, racquetball and hiking in the desert of Utah near Bluff, Utah. Donna and Dale enjoyed many trips in the USA and abroad. He shared Donna's love of music and the piano and they would often play piano duets together. He was an aficionado of crossword puzzles and enjoyed meeting his Monday morning coffee group. He helped organize an investment club and a poker club which were both in existence for 50 years. Dale loved and cherished his family and friends - they were, above all, the most important part of his life.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church.
