David went into the Air Force after attending Fruita High School, and was discharged with an Honorable Discharge. He worked for Red Crawford radio, then was hired on with Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad, then Union Pacific Railroad for most of his life. He retired in July 2012.
David married Sharron L. Capps, his wife of 18 years, in March of 1968. He adopted her three kids, Deborah Bailey, Wade Capps, and Beverly Lee. He then had Margi Williams and Shaun Capps with Sharron. He has an older sister, Lois Cordova, and younger brother, Danny Capps, as well as tons of nieces, nephews, and grandkids.
