

He was born February 11, 1938 in Stockton, California to William “Chet” Chester Legrand and Berniece “Bea” Florence Sigman LeGrand.
Don attended Fruita Union High School class of 1957. He then joined the United States Navy where he faithfully served his country for more than 20 years.
Don married Linda Paulette Adams in Grand Junction, Colorado on July 31, 1961. To that union three children were born, John Douglas Legrand (Heather), Robert Dale LeGrand, and Michelle “Missy” Berniece Keller (Mark). Don and Linda raised her sister, Mary Margaret Adams and Don considered her as his own daughter.
Don and Linda later divorced.
After retiring from the Navy, Don moved to Loma, Colorado where he farmed and raised livestock. He also worked for many years at a local oil refinery company.
Don loved his farm and especially loved his animals, raising cattle, pigs, chicken, and the occasional sheep. Every year, he grew amazing vegetables in his garden with a focus on tomatoes. He was well known in the family for his Salsa Verde recipe and he canned this salsa every year for his family and friends. Don was a big fan of NASCAR and spent many memorable times with family and friends attending the races.
Don is survived by his partner of more than 30 years, Deborah Montero. Children, Mary Adams, John LeGrand (Heather), Michelle “Missy” Keller (Mark), sisters Twila Sloan (Doug), Joyce Page (Chris), Millie Cheney (Joe), Karan Legrand. 4 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Linda and his son, Robert “Bobbie”, his granddaughter Kathryn and his niece, Karina “Katie”.
Services are to be held on July 18, 2025 at 9:00am at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Graveside services with full military honors immediately following at Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita, Colorado
