Donna passed away on March 22, 2014.
Donna Leonore Richards was born on November 14, 1937, to Alex and Leonore Campbell in Nucla, CO. She graduated from Norwood High School in 1955, and her classmates described her as ""neat and shiny like a pearl"".
Donna spent 30 years with her true love, Leland Bennett, on their ranch in Nucla raising horses, cows, and making her famous pickled asparagus. She worked at the Montrose County Human Services in Nucla, CO for over 20 years and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Nucla and Montrose. In retirement, Donna traveled and raced horses with Leland in New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Leonore and Alex Campbell. She has six children, Debra (Jim); Deanna (Richard); Brian (who preceded his mother in death in 1991); Cindy (Tim); Tabetha (Darrell), and Sherry (Jim); nine grandchildren, Brock (Moriah), Amanda, Houston (Leah), Neil (Mariah), Anthony (Ashley), Alexa (Matthew), Nathan (Bree), Leearra (Jordan), and Ty (Jessica); 16 great-grandchildren, Terrell, Terrance, Tatum, Avery, Ayden, Eric, Lucas, Alyssa, Preslee, Rylan, Olivia, Johnnie, Dylan, Jaxton, Ziarra, and Tyson. Donna is survived by her siblings, Tom (Bonnie), Andy (Karen), and Kent (Shawn).
Memorial services will be held at the Moose Lodge in Nucla, CO on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with graveside services to follow at the Nucla-Naturita Cedar Ridge Cemetery. A reception will be held after the graveside services back at the Moose Lodge.
