Dorothy was born in Haskell Oklahoma January 15,1924 her parents were LeRoy and Lora Nelson and she had two sisters Mary McElrath and Callie Wells along with two brothers Glen Nelson and Eldon Nelson.
She was married in Muskogee Oklahoma on August 14, 1941 to Bill St. John. They were married for fifty-five years before his passing on December 22, 1996. They had four daughters Glenda Davidson, Valora Claeys, Rhonda Patterson and Roxana Scott.
They built a wonderful life together during Bills lifelong commitment to his country serving in the United States Navy travelling to points around the world before his retirement from the Navy. They settled back on the family homestead on Morrisania Mesa near Parachute Colorado where they farmed and enjoyed raising their daughters and farming the homestead.
Dorothy was a devoted mother and wife, she loved the farm, and she was so proud of her gardening, she enjoyed cooking for the entire family and spent endless days reading and working crossword puzzles with the patience of a saint. Her smile was contagious, and her heart was warm as she never refused to help someone in need even if she went without basic needs for herself.
She leaves behind her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss her desperately but know she is heaven planting a new garden free of burden and looking down on all that loved her.
