

Edna Luree Hall Miller passed away at the Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado on October 7, 2012, following a short illness. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15th, at Martin Mortuary. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m., with services at 11:00 a.m., and internment to follow at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens.
Edna was born on August 10, 1920, on a farm northwest of Olathe, Colorado to John H. and Effie McIntire Hall. She was a graduate of Olathe High School and Western State College in Gunnison. Edna met Glen T. Miller at a Baptist youth activity in Olathe. They were married on June 3, 1943, at Meridian, Mississippi, just prior to Glen's leaving for service in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Europe during WWII. The couple were married for 69 years. Edna taught school for 38 years, including several years of private kindergarten in her home before public kindergartens were introduced into the Grand Junction area. She retired from teaching in 1984.
She had a strong Christian faith and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grand Junction for 66 years. She served in numerous capacities, including deaconess, church clerk, and directing and singing in the church choir. Edna loved her family, Daughters of the American Revolution and Retired Teachers activities, music, Colorado history, and jeeping in the mountains.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Wilna Hall Treichler (Gene). She is survived by her husband, Glen, and three sons, John W. (Letty) Miller of Grand Junction; Dennis G. (Cecilia) Miller of Centennial, CO, and Ronald J. (Val) Miller of Fruita; six grandsons, Mark of Chickasha, OK; Hunter (Erica) of Grand Junction; Tony of Fruita, and Ryan, Shawn, and Nathan of Centennial, and two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Marshal of Grand Junction.
