Ellen Anita Naffziger Denton was born November 22, 1935 in Fresno, California to John D. Naffziger and Nancy Ina Saint Naffziger. Ellen passed away December 30, 2018 at Colorado Canyons Hospital in Fruita at the end of her struggle with PSP.
She came into the world with her identical twin sister Helen. As an adolescent she with her parents, and sisters Nancy and Helen moved to Fruita. She attended schools in Fruita.
In 1953 she met Edward Denton. They were married in Fruita on October 15, 1953. They celebrated their 65th anniversary this last October. From their union 3 children were born. Anita, Dan and Raneea.
Ellen worked many years as a waitress. She loved to quilt, sew, crochet and all crafts in general. Her family members have wonderful examples of her talents to snuggle up with to feel loved and warmed by her. She also loved her computer games. Traveling in their camper in the mountains, different states, and Mexico was something she truly loved. Visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren always brought a smile to her face.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and grandson. She is survived by her husband Ed Denton; a son Dan Denton; and daughters Anita (Charles) Luce and Raneea (Mitch) Berndt; grandchildren Shannon (Ashton), Crystal (Erik), Chuckie, Tara (Nate), Cody, Ben and Katie; great grandchildren Corbin, Allison, Lily, Teagan, and Porter. Other survivors include nieces and nephews, sister in laws, brother in laws and friends. In her final days she was surrounded by family and caregivers allowing her to stay home.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 3-7 PM at Martin Mortuary 550 North Avenue Grand Junction.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in the New Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita with a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints 343 E. Ottely in Fruita.
