Fayola “Fay” Stoddart, of Grand Junction, passed away peacefully in Grand Junction. Fay was born to Maynard Clarence and Blanche (Allen) Brooks, in Richmond, Virginia. While growing up she lived on a farm in rural South Dakota. In the early 1940’s her family moved to Uravan, Colorado, where she met her husband, Earnest A. “Cork” Stoddart. She later moved to Grand Junction and married Earnest on January 2, 1949. They worked on ranches in the Divide Creek and Gunnison areas for a while, and then she loyally travelled with Cork as he worked for 30 years with Corn Construction. They retired to their home on Orchard Mesa. Throughout her life she created many beautiful crochet and embroidery items. She enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, reading, gardening, playing cards, and bowling. She also enjoyed the Bronco and Rockies games. Survivors include her sister, Hope LaDuke of Boise, Idaho; sister-in-law, Becky Stoddart of Grand Junction; niece, Katherine (Mitchell) Harris of Whitewater; 18 nieces and nephews; and 28 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Earnest; her parents; her sister, Lela Sowles; and brother, Melburn “Bud” Brooks. She was loved and treasured by her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the Angels of BeeHive Homes for their wonderful care.
