In 1963, while serving in the U.S. Army in Germany, Gale met and married the love of his life, Brigitte, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they returned to the United States in 1964, welcoming their first child, Mark, in 1964 before returning to the United States later that year to begin their life together as a family.
During his military service, Gale proudly earned the Expert Marksman’s Badge, an achievement that reflected both his skill and dedication.
Gale worked as an operator at Gilsonite Refinery before becoming a head operator at Gary Refinery, where he dedicated 25 years. Following its closure, he continued his career as a boiler operator at the Regional Center, where he worked another 15 years before retiring. Alongside his career, Gale also owned and operated Head Brothers Fencing Company with his brother, Lonney, a family-centered business they built with pride.
A man of deep love for the outdoors, Gale enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. He cherished every moment spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was strictly a family man with a love for nature and animals, and he will be remembered for always putting his family first. Gale was a provider, a hard worker, and a man known for his kindness, gentle spirit, and the way he cared for everyone around him.
Gale is survived by his beloved wife, Brigitte; his son, Mark (Laura); his son, Ken (Colleen); his son, Brent (Tammy); and his daughter, Terry (Jim). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and his nephew, Lonney John (Lori), who was like a son to him. Gale had many other nephews and extended family who were very dear to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Josephine Head, and his brother, Lonney.
