Gary Davis
September 6, 1949 - October 18, 2015
Hunting and fishing are the two activities Gary Davis lived each day to take part in. He loved the mountains, smell of the outdoors and the cooler weather that the elevation brought. Even after losing his sight, Gary was able to tell you every turn on the bumpy road as we made our way to the allusive Vela Reservoir.
One of his most prized fishing trophies, was a Mackinaw he caught while fishing at Flaming Gorge. He had the trophy mounted and proudly displayed it in the living room. The fish became a lasting Christmas decoration; lights, tinsel and somehow a fishing snowman trying to reel in the catch of the day always were the highlight of the holiday season.
Gary was born in Delta, Colorado to Edward and Mary Davis. He moved with his parents and two brothers, Tom and Ron, to Grand Junction. He graduated from Central High School.
Gary has one daughter, Desiree, and one son, Michael, whom he is very proud of and always called to check on. He also has five grandchildren, Andrew, Makayla, Aubrey, Lynnaya, and Hunter. He is survived by his mother; two brothers; children, and grandchildren.
Private family services are planned.
