Glen Rose Jackson January 16, 1922 – May 11, 2012 Glen Rose Jackson of Grand Junction, Colorado passed away at St. Mary's Hospital. She was 90. She lived in Grand Junction for 56 years. Glen Rose was born to Cora and Albert Jamison on a cattle ranch in south Texas, near Normangee, Texas. The ranch was operated by her parents, lifelong residents of the area. She lived there until she entered Sam Houston State College in Huntsville, Texas. In 1940 she moved to Bryan, Texas and was employed by the nearby Texas A&M University as a secretary to the head of the Chemical Engineering Department. Glen Rose married Kirk Jackson, a second lieutenant on active duty at A&M in 1941. In 1943, she was employed as purchasing agent at Bryan Army Air Field. After Kirk returned from overseas they were stationed at air force training stations in Amarillo, Texas and Denver, Colorado. Their first child, Steve, was born in Denver in 1945. A second son, Kenny, was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and a third son, Kit, was born in Grand Junction. Although Glen Rose devoted her life foremost to being a mother, wife and homemaker, she had many close friends at the places they lived, and she enjoyed many activities, particularly teaching Sunday school, cooking, duplicate bridge, gardening, traveling, and fishing. Survivors include her sons, Steve Jackson of Grand Junction; Dr. Ken Jackson of Kingman, Arizona, and Kit Jackson of Telluride, Colorado; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Glen Rose believed the purest wisdom is a loving heart. Hugging people was one of her favorite ways of showing affection. She kept the following thought in her collection of favorite thoughts; Hugging can be "Paradise." Some are anxious to give it- I give it back. Some are afraid to ask for it- I go ahead and give it. Hugging has a lot going for it. It doesn't cost much. It's returnable and recognizing it as "Paradise" is an easy way to get there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, 3940 27 1/2 Road, Grand Junction, 81506, and/or The Salvation Army, 1234 North 4th Street, Grand Junction, 81501.
